Welcome to a healing space

Therapy Services Overview

A woman with dark, curly hair wearing a light blue shirt is sitting on a couch, placing her hand on her chest and speaking to another person. The other person, partially visible, has short dark hair, is wearing a white sleeveless top, and is holding a notebook and pen. They are in a room with a painting on the wall behind them and a striped pillow on the couch.

I primarily work with one individual at a time. I can offer some couples and family work if it would help support the primary individual seeking services as a one time or occasional service. In the first couple of sessions, I will work with you to figure out your goals, uncover barriers, and embark on those initial grueling and confusing steps together. Then in the next few sessions after that and with numerous tools and experience (yours and mine) at our disposal, we will find the best path for you. I provide research backed, collaborative, and common sense therapy services with a focus on attachment, interpersonal connections, and personal growth.

Consultation

With over 25 years of working in large and small healthcare systems and building programs to improve access to mental health services for the most vulnerable populations such as older adults I have the experience and passion for helping you with navigating complex care systems. For individuals needing support as a caregiver to a loved one with care needs, I will work with you to determine gaps in your clinical care and navigate our complex healthcare system for your family, and provide tools to work better with family members when you are supporting an aging parent or grandparent. For professionals, I can help with improving your expertise in geropsychology or improving your work with older clients. My clinical areas of expertise include consult in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills training, geriatric care services, supporting families adjusting to decline associated with various neurological conditions, and serving the AAPI community.

About me

I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, with an emphasis on culturally attuned approaches to counseling and psychological assessment. I went on to receive advanced training at the University of California, San Francisco, and at the VA Palo Alto, where I served clients across the lifespan. I am board-certified in Geropsychology, which means that I have advanced specialized training in treating older clients. I am currently the Director of the Berkeley CBT Clinic and Consultant for the Older Adult Counseling and Psychological Services, clinical programs within the Wright Institute Clinical Services.

My approach is transdiagnostic, person-centered, and tailored to the unique needs of those seeking a clear, comprehensive path to well-being and a meaningful life. I have expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills training.

As a first-generation Korean American cisgender woman with an immigrant background, my journey to healing from intergenerational wounds has been profound and deeply personal. I will take you on a similar journey of wonder, awe, dedication, and respect.
